Afghanistan U19 team fall short by 9 runs against South Africa

Afghanistan U19s fell short by 9 runs chasing a target of 201 against South Africa U19 in the Quadrangular one-day series.

South Africa U19s batted first and were all out for 200 in 49.5 overs; Luke Beafort and Bryce Parsons scored 40 runs each for South Africa U19. Riaz Hassan was the pick of Afghan bowlers taking 3/26 in 10 overs while Shafiqullah Ghafari, Abid Mohammadi and Arif Dawlatzai took two wickets each. In response, Afghanistan U19s scored 191 and were all out in 48.3 overs conceding a 9-run defeat. Riaz Hassan, Ishaq Zazai and skipper Farhan Zakhail were the top scorers with 35, 20 and 63 runs respectively for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan U19 will play South Africa again on 11th March for the 3rd and 4th place of the quadrangular series.
