Amo beat Bost by 2 runs in the third match of the super six round and the first televised match in the ongoing Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament.
Earlier, Bost won the toss and elected to field first. Amo lost their first wicket early as Sharafuddin Ashraf was caught by Nasir Jamal off Yamin Ahmadzai’s bowling. Amo’s skipper Javed Ahmadi and youngster Riaz Hassan put on a highly impressive partnership of 225 runs for the second wicket before Ahmadi lost his wicket to Yamin as well. A late surge by Mirwais Ashraf helped Amo take their total to an imposing 318/4 in 50 overs, thus setting a target of 319 runs for Bost to chase.
Bost openers started off well as they took on the opposition bowlers putting on 45 runs for the first wicket in just 5.3 overs before Rahim Mangal was trapped LBW by Sharafuddin Ashraf. Veteran batsman, Karim Sadiq scored 75 runs at an amazing strike rate of over 200. However, he became Sharafuddin Ashraf’s second scalp with Bost having 97 runs on the board.
Nasir Jamal and Waheedullah Shafaq tried to stabilize Bost innings as they put on 89 runs for the third wicket. However, Sharafuddin Ashraf’s good day with the bowl continued as he accounted for both of them in a short span of time. Bost captain Najibullah Zadran could not capitalize on the partnership earlier by the top order as he fell for 22 runs off Fazal Haque’s bowling.
Sharafuddin deservingly completed his five-wicket haul as he claimed Munir Ahmad’s wicket with Bost having 234 runs on board. Bost kept losing wickets regularly. Bost’s last pair almost pulled it off for their team as they put on 36 runs in the last three overs. However, the fell short by just 2 runs as Amo registered their first win in the tournament.
Sharafuddin Ashraf was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant bowling display, claiming 6 wickets for 43 runs off his 10 overs.
