Afghanistan earns its first World Cup Victory

The match was played at Dunedin, New Zealand where Afghan captain won the toss and elected to bowl first. Scotland scored 210 losing their all wickets. Shahpoor Zadran got 4 and Dawlat Zadran got 3 wickets during the innings. Afghanistan reached the target by losing 9 wickets. Samiullah Shenwari was the top scorer with 96 runs while Javed Ahmad scored 51 runs. Samiullah was named player of the match. Afghanistan Cricket Board chairman Nasimullah Danish congratulated the whole nation for the historical win of Afghanistan over Scotland. He praised the game of Afghan team for playing brilliantly under pressure and called it the turning point for success. Chief Executive Officer Shafiqullah Stanikzai also congratulated the nation. He said that our team took Sri Lanka under pressure and they have proved their courage by getting the victory today. It is worth mentioning that Afghan president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also congratulated the team for the victory and called one of the biggest achievements of the nation. National team will play its fourth game against Australia on 4th March.
