Paragon Band-e Amir Dragons held their nerve and made their way to the Final after a thrilling run feast as Kabul Eagles fell short by 3 runs in the second Qualifier of Shpageeza Cricket League.
Having won the toss, Dragons batted first and posted the highest team total in the tournament’s history ending their innings on 225/2 in their 20 overs. Imran Janat and Javed Ahmadi put on the highest partnership in the league’s history scoring 176 runs for the second wicket. Janat, in particular, was at his best as he scored the season’s third century hitting 8 fours and 8 sixes in his unbeaten 64-ball knock of 115 while Javed Ahmadi scored 77 continuing his great form to lead the table for Most runs.
In response, in order to qualify for the Final, Kabul Eagles were required to achieve a record chase. Younas Ahmadzai and Karim Janat’s half-centuries aided by Asghar Afghan and Samiullah Shinwari’s gutsy knocks took the Eagles outstandingly closer before Dragons’ pacer Batin Shah managed to defend 12 off the last over to take his team to the Final of the tournament against Wazirzai Mis-e Ainak Knights.
Rashid Khan’s Band-e Amir Dragons will seek to defend their title against Wazirzai Mis-e Ainak Knights led by Mohammad Nabi tomorrow afternoon at Kabul Cricket Stadium.
