A record knock by all-rounder Karim Janat helped Kabul Eagles beat Speenghar Tigers in the Eliminator of Shpageeza Cricket League to qualify for the second qualifier match against Band-e Amir Dragons tomorrow.
Having won the toss, Eagles’ skipper Asghar Afghan won the toss and opted to bat first. Kabul posted 197/3 in their 20 overs as Karim Janat scored the third century in the tournament’s history. Janat’s 120 is also the highest individual score in the league’s history.
The Tigers were well on course with Najeeb Tarakai, Shabir Noori and Najib Zadran’s knocks of 52,47 and 27. However, the other batsmen could not capitalize as the Tigers fell short by 16 runs to lose the match and end their campaign in the tournament.
Kabul Eagles will face Band-e Amir Dragons tomorrow in the second qualifier of the tournament the winner of which will play Wazirzai Mis-e Ainak Knights on Thursday in the Final.
Speenghar Tigers played 6 matches in the tournament winning 2 and losing four including the eliminator.
