Afghanistan squad returns home after a successful tour of Bangladesh

Afghanistan squad returned home today after completing a successful tour of Bangladesh where they beat the hosts in a one-off Test and subsequently shared the Tri-nation T20I Series after the Final match between both sides was abandoned due to excessive rain.

The players were welcomed by officials from ACB at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport and were commended in a ceremony held at ACB Head office.

Mr. Abdullah Barakzai, Senior Advisor to the ACB Chairman in Strategic Communications addressed the event and congratulated the players on a great performance in the tour. He added:” ACB is proud of your achievements. You are true heroes who have proudly represented and portrayed the true image of the country across the globe. “

Captain, Rashid Khan also addressed the event on behalf of the National team and thanked his players for their great performance and dedication. He added:” Winning the Test against Bangladesh in Bangladesh is a great achievement for us as a team. Even though we lost two matches in the T20I Tri-series, our team performed well overall. Our preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup started with this tour, therefore, we gave opportunities to more players against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. “

Rashid commended the performance by Youngsters in particular and expressed his happiness calling them a bright future for the country’s cricket. He further added that the team’s focus will now be on preparations for the upcoming tour of India where they will play a full series against West Indies in November.
